PVR Blowout!

Yesterday my digital cable HD PVR cable box from motorola died.

I’m not sure what happened, but it would not turn on, or if it did would only last for less than one minute.

The sad news was I had purchased this box on Ebay and I knew that Shaw (my cable provider) would not honour any warranty on it. With that in mind I called Motorola and spoke to their tech support. Unfortunately since I bought it in “Canada” and via the internet, they do not honour a warranty on it. I was alittle pissed off at hearing this, and asked if there was somewhere I could take it for repair. They pretty much told me I was out of luck. Nice job Motorola!!!

I then called Shaw to see if they could do anything. They of course tried to see if they could get a signal to the machine, but that failed. The tech guy “Tony” did say that he would send someone over to have it looked at, this even after I told them that this was purchased on the internet. He said a tech guy would take a look at it and see if he can fix it there, otherwise, I’m out of luck. But still there might be some hope.

Luckily I still had my old Digital Cable box which I reconnected and got it working.
