Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending my first ever Third Tuesday Vancouver Meetup.
As this was my first event I wasn’t fully sure what to expect. Arriving about 10 minutes early to the Network Hub (who was hosting the event) expecting to have to sign in and get a name tag, but it was as formal as some other events I have gone to in the past. The room quickly filled up just after 7pm and people grabbed some wine and chairs and the discussion began. Jeff Young had an interesting topic on how the law affects everyone in the blogging world, from photos you use, content you provide, and the nature of the topic you provide you readers.
Thanks to Todd Mafin and Tanya Davis for organizing the event. I look forward to attending more events in the future and as everyone was conversing before the discussion began, Northern Voices kicks off on Friday (alas this is sold out, so I cannot attend any of the great topics that are going to be discussed)
I’ve been wanting to blog about this for sometime, but just haven’t gotten around to writing it.
Ever since Junior came into my life, a whole new world has open up; mainly the dog owners world. These are the people you meet on the street or at parks that also have dogs of their own. It is always easier to strike up a conversation with them as you both have dog(s) in common.
Now of course you always have those people that just don’t want to associate themselves with you, not even a “hello” or nod is returned. Then there are those who, like their dogs, just want nothing to do with you, even though Junior is excited to meet new playmates. I always have to ask myself why people who have dogs, just don’t like to socialize with other “dog minded” people.
Of course Junior has is local set of playmates, including Molly (who I’ll just say is his “girlfriend” and loves to wrestle with), Peanut (who Junior just loves to hump) and Starbucks (who he just loves to throw around like a stuffed toy) to name a few. We all seem to have the usual routine and always seem to run into each other at least once a day and let the “kids” just play.
Often times, when the weather is great, we all seem to verge on the same park and meet other dog people.
I’m sure as the weather improves and the days last longer, I’ll find more dog people and Junior will find new playmates to keep him busy and sleeping soundly.
On a side note, who knew that dogs actually had some blogs, I found this site [Dogs with Blogs] which lists some dogs around the world what have their own blogs. Hmm I feel sorta outta touch lately.
Now today while Russ and I were walking along Kitsilano we came across some Federal election signage going up. I don’t see anything in the news that says an election is happening, though I do know that we might have one triggered this coming week, but WTF?!
Oh well we shall soon see what is happening soon
UPDATE: Looks like this is just a by-election though based on what is going on in Ottawa at the moment [CTV], this might end up being an actual nationwide election.
Well I did it. Yesterday I took the plunge and changed my cellphone company from Telus to Rogers. I’ve been thinking of switching from sometime (read my to Blackberry or not to Blacberry post) and after much thought I did. Now to my surprise I’m on even better plan than I was with Telus. For roughly the same price (maybe $5 more) I’m actually getting weeknight and weekends for free! WOOHOO!
I did get the Sony Ericsson w580i which is a cool phone, but alas it doesn’t sync with my MacBook Pro. This even after the sales person said it would sync with my calender. What I will say it does, via the bluetooth and USB cables, is allows me to access files from my phone. Now I hope Apple will include this phone in their iSync since they include many other Sony Ericsson phones.
At any rate this will set me up for when the iPhone officially launches in Canada, but I might have to wait until their lawsuit is finished. Which might be a good thing as we’ll have a second generation phone.
I just wanted to send out a special shout out to all the love birds out there today! Hope you all have a fantastic Valentine’s Day.
Let us not forget that you shouldn’t wait for just one day a year to show your loved one how much you love them, show it everyday!
PS - Don’t forget your little furry, featherd, gilled and scaled critters too!
So I have officially moved my blog from Blogger to Wordpress.
After reading several reviews and comments on both I decided to move the blog. You can now find me at www.gusdigital.com which will be hosted by Wordpress.
I have nothing against Blogger, as it has been very good to me, but I think I just need something more professional looking moving forward. I know it will be a long learning curve to get use to Wordpress as I don’t think I’m that “technically sauve”.
This will be my last post here on Blogger, so if you are following me, please update you links to www.gusdigital.com.
Last night I decided to take the plunge and get myself a domain name.

Russ and I were at the Cactus Club in Yaletown the other day enjoying a Bellini when I thought to myself, “Self, who in this city makes the best Bellini”?
