Seattle Bound

Finally as promised, Russ is taking me to Seattle for my long awaited birthday weekend.

Now I understand why we couldn’t do it sooner and it would be great for both of us just to get away from the city and enjoy another city. Granted most people would just go away somewhere more secluded to relax, but I think the drive down will be therapeutic for the both of us.

Lolo has agreed to look after Junior and Cyd, which is another reason we are able to take off for a couple of days. Thanks Lolo.

I’ll try to take in some different Seattle sites and report back here with some updates and photos.

I might just “un-plug” from the net this weekend, though I’m also expecting a client to call me over the weekend, even though I have given a colleague’s contact instead. Time will tell.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter all.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today and doesn’t get too much chocolate (though how can anyone get “too much”)

Happy Birthday Sami

Sami

Today is my youngest niece’s sweet 16th.

Again I’m not back home in Toronto to wish her the best today in person, but I would like to wish her all the best. Though I know it is the Easter weekend, I hope she does have some fun (though not too much if you get my meaning…hehehe)

Anyways, Happy Birthday Sami.

Love, Uncle Gus

Happy Birthday Adrian

Today is my eldest nephew’s 22nd birthday.

Though he’s sunning it up in Argentina right now, and going to school in the US in NYC, I’m hoping him the best on his birthday!

Don’t party too much Adrian, you’ll have plenty of time for that :)

Love
Uncle Gus

Plans Cancelled

Well this weekend Russ and I were hoping to get away from Vancouver and head down to Seattle for a couple of days of relaxation.

I was trying to get some friends to look after Junior for a couple of days, but since it’s the long weekend, most have plans and are away from the city.  I also tried to book with the Rex Dog Hotel (as I have in the past), but they were solidly booked as well.  Since Junior does need attention, we have decided to postpone the trip.

This trip was suppose to have happened during my birthday week, but due to some personal matters it had to be canceled.

I’m hoping that I will be able to get out next weekend and that some of my friends (hint, hint) will be able to look in on Junior and Syd Cyd.

I’m sure we will still have a great long weekend and I’m looking forward to some time away from work.

Bellini Effect – Take 2

Last month I set a goal to try out some other Bellini offerings throughout the city.

I’m proud to say last week Russ and myself enjoyed a couple of refreshing Bellinis at White Spot and Milestone.

Though the flavour was there, I didn’t quite like White Spot’s version of it. I felt it was lacking in presentation and it wasn’t frosty enough for my liking. The Milestone version definitely was tasty, though out of the three versions I’ve tried, I still love Cactus Club’s version the best.

I’m sure I will try some other versions soon :)

Earth Hour 2008

A friend of mine sent me an email today regarding Earth Hour 2008.

This was started last year in Sydney Australia. For just one hour (at 8pm local time) on March 29th you are asked to turn off your lights for one hour to help with global warming.

“Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm March 29, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.”

I’ll try my best to do my part for the world, hopefully you will to and add Vancouver to the list of cities that will participate with this movement.

Getting Better

These past couple of weeks have been very hard for me.  While trying to celebrate my birthday, friends family members weren’t doing so well.  Without getting into details about what was going on, let’s just say things are getting better.

I hope to start to blog abit more in the coming days and get back to a normal routine.

10 Things I Don’t Like About my Sony Ericsson W580i

The other day I posted 10 things I like about my Sony Ericsson W580i cell phone, today I will write about 10 things I don’t necessarily like about it (in no particular order)

  1. No flash with the camera – ok you have a “night time” mood, but you still need a burst of light I feel on those dark nights and the images in night mood are very pix-elated
  2. 2 mega-pixel camera – ok I said I liked this (better than my 1.3 from my previous phone), but with phones now-a-days I would have expected at least a 3 mega-pixel camera
  3. Rogers media player – now why would I use this when I have the Sony walk-man already on the phone?
  4. You can’t zoom when taking photos even though it’s suppose to have 3x optical zoom, you can zoom when you are taking a video
  5. Calendar doesn’t display all day events, ie Birthdays.
  6. I can’t change what is on my quick main menu buttons.  I have “Calls” and “Music”.  I would rather have “Contacts” instead of the Rogers Music
  7. Keys are alittle small and with my big fingers I have to really look at them to make sure I’m pressing the right buttons
  8. You can’t send a text message to someones email in you contact without setting up an email account first (Telus you were able to send a text message without any problems)
  9. Work address appear first before Home address in the Contacts
  10. It runs on the EDGE network and is not 3G compatible

I’m sure there are more but there is some for now :)

    Here’s to my “ME DAY”

    Pondering

Today is my Birthday and as I sit and ponder what I have accomplished these past years I’m amazed. Just over 6 years ago I moved from my comforts of Woodbridge, Ontario and moved out to the west coast and set up my roots here in Vancouver. I bought a condo with Russ, got Junior and now Syd is in the mix. I’ve travelled to Europe for the first time, driven through the Rockie Mountains and camped in a tent for the first time.

I’m looking forward to more adventures as I get older and look forward to more exciting experiences and new friends and old along the way. I thank all my family for making me who I am today (I miss you all so much) and I thank all my friends new and old for being with me through this journey.

Here’s to me on my “ME DAY”. May everyone have a fantastic day as well!
