Boy kids grow up fast these days.
Today is yet another birthday in my family. Today is my niece’s Samantha’s birthday. As usual I’m not around to help celebrate with her, but I do want to wish her all the best today. She’s a great girl and growing up to be a wonderful woman. She has some great friends around her as well as great loving parents that support her in every way.
So Sammy, have fun today. Today is your day.

Wow, time really flies. Today is my eldest nephews 24th birthday. OUCH I’m old too!
Yeah he’s grown into a great man, and is probably breaking hearts everywhere. He’s lucky enough to be spending it with family today before he heads back to NYC where he will continue his University studies. Alas I can’t be there to wish him happy birthday personally, so I’ll just blog about him like any proud uncle would do

Another Birthday Passes

Today I’ve turned 41 and what an AWESOME birthday it has been!
Both of my sisters (Maria and Gladys) with my niece Amanda flew in from Toronto to spend this birthday weekend with me! It has been 8 years since all of us siblings have been together for a birthday – 8 years! My sister Maria and my niece have never visited Vancouver before and this was their first real experience of the city. Vancouver you have not disappointed with your beauty and you have captivated them.
We started the day taking my sisters on a tour of Stanley Park, showing the city’s beauty, and then walking along Robson Street which they all heard about during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. As typical tourists we stopped by many of the landmarks made famous from the Games. Alas I didn’t have my camera with me, but did take some with my sister’s camera. I’ll have to upload them another day.
The evening was spent at one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver – Poncho’s. As usual, they did not disappoint. They even through in a great dessert and sang to me as it was my birthday!
The only thing missing was having friends share this magical moment with me as well. I know everyone has been busy and other parties where planned, but I hope I’ll be able to see them in the next weeks to help celebrate.
I go to bed with great memories of a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday Junior

WOW hard to believe, but Junior today turns 3 years old. Yup our bundle of joy is growing up.
What can I say about Junior, he’s got to be one of the most wonderful dogs I’ve ever had. He’s been so easy to train, very loyal, and always wants to show you love and affection.
We’ll probably spend the day as any other day, except maybe today he’ll get some more lovely treats!

Today is my mother’s birthday and boy time flies quickly. I can’t believe another year has gone by since I last wished her a Happy Birthday.
I’m not sure what she is up to for today, but I’m sure the family will all gather at some point and have a cake or go out for lunch at her favourite Chinese restaurant. Alas I’m not there to be apart of it, but I will have a slice of cake later on her behave. Of course I will call her and wish her all the best and as always I’m writing a short blog post to wish her an awesome birthday.
So mom on this day, Feliz Cumpleaños. Mucho besos y brazos.

Sad – I’m older than the Internet

Today I found out by reading Mashable and CNN’s tech page that the internet just turned 40 years old today. Yup I’m older than the internet by 8.5 months folks!
40 years ago, a message was sent between two computers and thus began the great world of the world wide web. It’s hard to phantom that I have been apart of the internet generation for that long. I’ve seen the internet blossom to what it is today. I’ve seen computers grow in power, I’ve seen internet speed connections grown, I’ve seen internet content grow where now I couldn’t imagine not having it.
It’s amazing how quickly technology has grown during that time and I can only imagine how much it will grow in the next 40 years.
As Kimli on Twitter told me today, I don’t look a day over world wide web.

Happy Birthday to my Sister Gladys

Today we celebrate my sister Glady’s birthday.
I’m not going to be cruel and tell you her age, that is up for her to tell the world . What I am going to tell you is that she is a fantastic mother of 2 well adjusted and grown up kids, but she truly is a very caring and loving sister.
Of course having her work for Air Canada has some perks. She has been more than willing on many occasions to come “pick me up” as it were and fly me back to Toronto for a family visit. She also has extend the “family fair” option to Russ and we were able to travel this past January to Argentina because of it, not to mention Paris a few years back.
So sister, even though I can’t be there to help celebrate with you in person, do know that we are all celebrating your birthday here in Vancouver!

Happy Birthday Raul (aka Hummingbird604)

Today is a special day. Today is a good friend of mine’s birthday. Here in the Vancouver Social Media / Tech community we know him as @Hummingbird604 aka Dr. Raul Pacheco-Vega! (yeah I threw in the “Dr.” for good measure).
I’ve known Raul for over 2 years and our friendship has grown so much since then. Raul gives his all, he puts so much into his environmental issues, his writing, his social media skill and his friendships. Raul is the type of person that you can depend on when you need him. He will drop everything to help and support his friends. That shows a lot of character and I truly admire him. He might overdue it and exhaust himself from time to time, but it shows he truly has a big heart.
He’s also been helping Russ (and myself for the matter) practice his Spanish skills.
On this special birthday I’m sure we’ll hang out later for drink at Score, since he organized his own RaulCamp .

Happy Birthday Justin

Today is my nephew’s Justin’s birthday (Number 92 in the photo).
Yeah this little boy has grown up (yes Justin I can still call you a boy still). I can still remember your first steps as a baby, the craziness and excitement in your eyes as you became mobile at that young of an age. You’re excitement of playing soccer and trying to be the best cousin to Adrian who was your hero.
Alas I can’t be there today for his birthday, which I’ve heard he will be going to a Sushi Place for his birthday, I wish him all the best and much success this coming year.
Justin, if you ever want some great sushi, come to Vancouver and your Uncle Gus will take you to some great sushi spots!

Today is Russ’ birthday and even though he is feeling under the weather and we probably won’t do much today, I wanted to send him a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for all the world to know!
He truly is a great friend and has made my 8 year transition to Vancouver that much more enjoyable. He has a huge heart and anyone that knows him knows how much he values friendship. He goes the extra mile for everyone and would give anything he can to help anyone out.
Get well fast so we can actually celebrate your birthday! Dinner on me after-all!
