Last night I, and 50,000 plus in attendance, got sticky and sweet with Madonna on her Vancouver stop of her “Sticky and Sweet Tour” at BC Stadium. From what I’m aware of this is Madonna’s first ever stop here in Vancouver. I have been fortunate enough to have seen her perform 2 other times in the past; Girlie Show Tour and her Re-Invention Tour.
There is something about seeing Madonna live on stage. She doesn’t just sit there and not move, no this woman of 50 years, moves around the stage bumping and grinding and making everyone in the packed house stand up and dance along with her. The energy that is given off by everyone in attendance is felt as we all sang along with her and screamed every time Vancouver was mentioned.
Her show is all about the visuals with giant screens moving around the stage, which not only project images, but become apart of stage and share in the emotions they are portraying. Yes a smaller venue would make it feel more intimate, but the shear visuals themselves don’t allow for the impact of this.
This was the first time I have ever seen a concert at floor level. I’ve usually have had stadium seats during these big shows. I have to admit there are some benefits to being on the stadium side, but the overall feeling of being down on the floors and being that much closer to the act is FAR more enjoyable.
You can see some of my photos I took on my Flickr set. Yes I too was surprised at the amount of cameras that were taking video and photos of her performing. Boy gone are the days of having them quickly go after you if a flash went off.
There was of course the usual fans who dressed up as Madonna from different times in her life. Some were well done and others should have been brought to the back and shot for what they did.
At any rate this show rates 10 lollipop licks out of 10!!

YEAH! I’m going to see Madonna for her “Sticky and Sweet” tour when it hits Vancouver, but no thanks to Ticketmaster.
TICKETMASTER – YOU SUCK ASS!!!
I went on Ticktmaster’s website to get tickets and I was put “in line” when it was processing my selection. I was kicked out not once, not twice, not even 3 times but I would say over 10 times. Over 10 times of waiting in the que, for 10 minutes, ticketmaster would just kick me out saying “we’ve encountered a problem, sorry for any inconvenience”. WTF!!!
It wasn’t only me who was having problems with ticketmaster today, but it looks like everyone was. Russ even tried on his computer and he failed 4 times.
Ticketmaster if you are going to sell high profile acts, and charge a service fee, maybe you should make sure your service is working!
At any rate I’m going though only by my self as I could not get 2 tickets, but managed to get one ticket by the side stage. I guess I shouldn’t say I’m going alone as I’ll be going with about 40 thousand other fans!
I can’t wait to get “Sticky and Sweet”!!!
UPDATE: I went back online to check for tickets and all of a sudden Ticketmaster had $350 tickets available. I don’t recall seeing them at first and I wonder if they just sold the upper level and then opened up the lower level afterwards. At any rate I now have a floor ticket, 15th row no less! WOOT! I know I’ll be able to get rid of my other ticket (crossing my fingers).

This morning I was up at 5:30am so I could take Junior out for a walk and get ready for work (big Bosses are in).
As I was walking Junior and looking at my early morning tweets Buzz Bishop (whom I follow) announced on his blog that Madonna is finally going to make her appearance in Vancouver. I figured she would finally make it this way since her last tours she made it to at least one Canadian City. She will be playing at BC Stadium and tickets go on sale May 24th (May 20th if you are member of her fan club). I had the pleasure of attending her Reinvetion Tour and had an awesome time.
In other news, I also heard there was a shooting just a block away from my home last night. I must have been in a deep sleep as I didn’t hear any gunfire at all. News 1130 has the scoop on what has happened.
